DDRC Decompression Illness (DCI) Workshop and Conference 2010

Date 11th SeptemberDecompression illness (DCI) has no respect for a divers experience, knowledge, skills or training and even hits on Diving Officers, instructors and tekkies.
Around 50% of divers presenting for treatment of Decompression illness (DCI) have dived within the limits of the tables or computers used. So, the big question then must be: How can I better protect myself from Decompression illness (DCI)?
To address this question DDRC and the SAA are joining forces on Saturday 11th September 2010 to present a Decompression illness (DCI) Workshop for all divers irrespective of training agency or grade.
The venue is the Future Inn in Plymouth, Devon, UK.

Event outline:

  • Three divers will tell of their very ordinary dives that ended with Decompression illness (DCI) and their doctors will explain the treatment
  • Current thinking on PFOs and other mechanisms that might spoil your day
  • Divers in Denial – why does it happen and what are the consequences?
  • Decompression illness (DCI) Avoidance – going beyond tables and personal dive computers
  • “Ask our experts” session

This year DDRC celebrates 30 years as a charity committed to excellence in treatment, research and education. This Decompression Illness (DCI) Workshop is one of a series of events being held to mark this occasion.
